Providing funding for approved projects

The Law foundation-Queensland Trust may fund projects which the applicant body establishes are for the benefit of QLS members of the profession as a whole.

Direct Application Funding

The Law Foundation-Queensland Trust may provide funding for projects which are demonstrated to be for the benefit of QLS members, upon direct application being made to the Foundation.

These successful applicants include the Queensland Law Society, for its member benefit programs, the TC Beirne School of Law for its Elder Law research, Law Asia (the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific) and so on.

Under the terms of the Trust Deed, projects for which funding is sought, must be demonstrated to the Board to be of a benefit to the solicitor members of the QLS at large.

Over 5 million dollars has been distributed to the beneficiaries of the Trust Fund over the last 5 years, which includes some 2 million dollars given to fund the refurbishment of Level 2 of Law Society House. This floor level was established for the benefit of QLS members, and contains facilities which visiting members may require, as well as a fully equipped auditorium for seminars and individual meeting rooms.
