Providing a useful guide

This handbook provides a useful guide for solicitors by giving a broad understanding of the various State and commonwealth laws that provide, in effect, a regulatory regime for the modern farmer and grazier.

Primary Producers Legal Handbook

Primary production is the second most important Queensland industry after mining and is the bedrock upon which our State was founded. As such, it is one the State’s the major job providers.

This Guide was produced with the assistance of Messrs Thynne & Macartney, which has one of Australia’s leading practices in agribusiness and acts for a broad range of rural clients including some of Australia's largest public and private grazing enterprises.

Its purpose is to assist primary producers and reflects the law as at 30 April 2019.  It is not intended to be a substitute for specific advice about a particular problem which should, of course, be referred to a solicitor or where appropriate, to the particular industry association, but seeks to give primary producers a broad understanding of the various State and Commonwealth laws. These provide, in effect, a regulatory regime for the modern farmer and grazier. It is a very useful tool to alert primary producers to the most significant legal issues.
